Gena Heraty Haitian appeal Fund

Moyne College Students performed a head shaving and moustache removal event to raise funds for the Gena Heraty Haitian appeal Fund. The Idea was the brain child of Staff member Ms Michelle Jordan and 5th year students – Alan McGinty and Ciaran Kelly. €2000 was raised as a result of the event with, staff, mainstream students and PLC students digging deep into their respective pockets, handbags and piggy banks to support this extremely worthy cause.
Mr Terry McCole, ex-Principal of Moyne College praised the students in particular for their community spirit and the calibre of their organizational skills to raise such a vast amount of money in a extremely short (6 hours) period of time. He pointed out that with all the talk of economic difficulties, coupled with a poor perception of youth at present, it was heartening to see highly motivated students co-operating so well with the staff of Moyne College. He commended the students for displaying a great sense of empathy for those in need.
