Moyne College Literacy Week

From Monday 15th to Friday 19th November 2010 the topic of conservation among students and staff in Moyne College, Ballina was Literacy Week.
The Week long activities demonstrated the enjoyment and pleasure that can be derived from reading and other related activities such as composing poetry, stories, illustration and creation of arts and crafts.
Throughout the week students participated in ‘One Book One Class’ where all students read the same book over the course of the week.
Students also participated  in ‘Paired Reading’ where PLC students in Childcare assisted junior students with reading and also created beautiful Christmas cards together.

The highlight of the week according to the students was the day the renowned Storyteller Neil de Burca came to the school.  Students in Moyne College as well as students from Scoil Padraig and Scoil na gCeithre Maol had an opportunity to hear his captivating and fascinating stories.

During the week students were also busy writing short stories, poems, raps and designing posters which were all entered into a competition.  Well done to all students who entered.
