Engineering Technology
Moyne College is the only Secondary School in Ballina to offer this unique subject.
Students learn about the science behind Engineering Technology and apply practical skills they they learn in the workshop to a Practical Engineering State Exam, and an Engineering Project.
Engineering is changing with the introduction of Core Elements.

MaterialsTechnology – Metal
In the Junior cycle Students work with various materials such as mild steel, brass, copper, aluminium and plastics.
They learn how to use hand tools in the lockers and also the machines such as the lathe, and CNC lathe . They undertake various projects in each year and also cover their theory course.
Their exam in Junior Certificate consists of:
- Project Work
- Practical Exam
- Theory Examination
